ProKanDo Receives Award for Deceptive Political Hit Pieces on Phill Kline
Were ProKanDo's award winning political phone calls, "In the Dog House," paid for by a PAC or a Nonprofit?
The American Association of Political Consultants announced the winners of the 2007 Pollie Award Competition on Feb 22, 2007.
Stones' Phone was the winner for the Best Use of Negative/Contrast in the "Phone Calls" category.
Who was Stones' Phones' client with their "In the Dog House" phone calls? While not mentioned as the client in the award announcement, ProKanDo took credit for this award on their blog in this entry from two days ago (March 20):
Stones' Phone lists ProKanDo as a client on their web page.
One can only speculate that this "In the Dog House" telephone call was against Phill Kline and was part of the coordinated effort and common them of the "Snoop Dog" mailings (see "The Snoop Dog Page"), made by a "nonprofit," Kansans for Consumer Privacy Protection.
The Oct 30 entry on the Snoop Dog Page said this:
Oct 30: Snoop Dog apparently makes phone calls too! THREE voters report "Snoop Dog" phone calls.
- A Pottawatomie County voter reports receiving two phone calls, with a different female voice each time. "Last week's voice was a rather angry young woman, and today's was a smooth, professional female voice."
- A call was received in Shawnee County: "It's a woman's voice referring to 'Snoop Dog Kline.' There was no 'paid for' in the recording."
- A Sedgwick County resident reports: "The first part of the message is cut off as if the recording began to play immediately and did not wait for the tone. It was a woman's voice that referenced Kline's 'prying' into medical records. I checked my caller ID and it said '"Out of Area.'"
Was the non-profit sending out "Snoop Dog" mailings coordinating their effort with the ProKanDo PAC making phone calls? Why can a non-profit act like a PAC, coordinate political efforts with a PAC at the same address, and hide their political money from the public?
Are the following entries from the Jan 20, 2007 ProKanDo Report of Receipts and Expenditures just a coincidence?

On Halloween, a $34,000 check was received from Kansans for Consumer Privacy Protection. ProKanDo immediately wrote a $29,610 check to Stones' Phones on the same date, with a subsequent payment made a few days later. Coincidence, or award winning plan?
Why are the coordinated efforts of the ProKanDo PAC and the Kansans for Consumer Privacy Protection non-profit exempt from Kansas Law?
